Involvement in Transition Leicester/Community Harvest Whetstone:

I've been involved in Transition Leicester from when it started in October 2007. I am part of TL Steering Group and have been involved in most food related projects initiated by TL such as the Green Grub Cafe, the Evington Orchard, the Apple Press Gang and Community Harvest Whetstone.

I've been involved in CHW from when a few of us first started talking about setting up a CSA at Whetstone Pastures Farm in January 2009. In CHW I have the position of Chairman which mainly involves trying to delegate as much work as possible to other committee members and volunteers!

I do these things because I'm passionate about the world and the people who inhabit it. I'm inspired by wisdom past and present. There are many pearls, here's just a couple:

"Activism is the rent I pay for living on this planet" (A. Walker);

"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history"

(M. Ghandi).

Favourite CHW Vegetable: Favourite British veg has got to be the humble spud but amongst CHW veg my vote this year has to go to the 'Big Boy' tomato.

Other interests: I love languages (modern and ancient ones), history and geography - the depth and breadth of human culture - and get turned on by archaeological sites and ancient ruins (Greek and Roman in particular) but have no real time to pursue these interests.

But most of all I love being with people, with family and friends.
