Oyster mushrooms on toast

Wow! Oyster mushrooms in the harvest were a real treat.

This recipe serves two, and was adapted from the one shared on the Growers' Sheet dated 3rd May 2019.

It's quick, enormously tasty, and suitable for any meal.

Vegan, dairy free and gluten free possible

Ingredients

Your CHW oyster mushroom share

oil/fat of choice (I used olive oil, but think I would use butter next time)

1-2 cloves garlic, minced

salt and pepper

good quality bread

Directions

  1. Slice the mushrooms, taking care to remove any residual straw/compost.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan, and once hot, add the mushrooms.
  3. Fry for a few minutes and then add the garlic.
  4. While the mushrooms are cooking, toast your bread.
  5. Fry a few minutes more, season to taste, and cook until as brown as you like them.
  6. Serve & enjoy immediately.
