Would you like fresh local food, but can't grow your own?

Started by Transition Leicester, CHW is a sustainable vegetable co-operative in Leicestershire. We grow our own delicious vegetables in an environmentally friendly way.

With the help and co-operation of farmers Anthony and Sandra Herbert, we have secured some land on a farm in Whetstone. We employ a professional grower to grow fresh and healthy vegetables for people around the area.

Members of the co-operative are the crop sharers: with the grower, we decide how the scheme is run. We collect our weekly box from the farm and get involved with weeding, administration, etc.

Some of the benefits for crop sharers are:

• fresh local food
• new friends
• a direct connection to the farm

Of course it’s also better for the environment too:

• no chemicals
• fewer food miles
• no packaging
