Late April Community Day - Saturday 28th April - 10:00 to 17:00 Maincrop potato planting. An important job for an invaluable crop - what would we do without our lovely spuds to keep us filled up throughout the year? As it makes up a reasonably large percentage of our harvest, there are many to plant, so bring yourselves, your friends and family to help us get them off to a good start! Park at Strawberry tearooms as usual. Bring something nice to share for lunch and clothing/footwear that you don't mind getting dirty!
Chill Out Day / May Community Day - Sunday May 20th - 10:00 - 17:00
Another event organised by Anthony and Sandra at Whetstone Pastures farm - Indulge and de-stress with massage, soaps, Tai Chi, farm walks, local food and crafts - In aid of Samaritans. CHW will have a stall at the event to attract new members and crop sharers, plus we will be down in the field planting squashes and sweetcorn. So to "Chill out" and come "Down to Earth", there's only one place to be!
Jubilee tea party / Early June Community Day - Tuesday June 5th - 10:00 - 17:00
If you want to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, but don't fancy joining the crowd in London, then come to Whetstone Pastures Farm and enjoy 'Royal-tea' in the courtyard! Tickets £6 adults, £3 children, £16 family ticket to include music, games, tea, cakes and sandwiches. If the Jubilee isn't your thing, or you'd just like to work off your Royal-tea, we'll be down in the field, planting Leeks. (We promise not to say a word to the Queen!)
LEAF Open Farm Sunday / Mid June Community Day - Sunday June 17th - 10:00 - 17:00
A fun, farm-themed day for all the family! Farm walks, trailer rides, farm machinery, sheep, chicks, pizza making and local food. Donations to RABI.
Down at the CHW field, we'll be planting Winter Brassicas. Although early summer may seem a strange time to be thinking about Cabbages, Brussels Sprouts and such like, they really do need planting early enough to take in all that lovely sunshine in order to produce when winter comes around. Volunteers welcome!!
